Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison Falls National Park is one of Uganda's oldest conservation areas; it has received many notable foreign visitors like Winston Churchill in 1907, King Edward VII in 1930, Humphrey Bogart in 1951 and the Queen Mother in 1959. The Victoria Nile races down the 80 km of white water rapids before plunging 40m over the remnant rift valley wall , the center piece of of the Park.

This stretch of the river provides one of Uganda’s most memorable wildlife spectacles. Regular visitors include elephant, giraffe and buffalo while hippopotamus and Nile crocodile are permanent residents.

Murchison Falls National Park is dominated by savanna woodland, river/wetland and tropical forests inhabitants which provide homes for 76 mammal species and 450 bird species. Large mammals include lion, leopard, Rothschild giraffe, Cape buffalo, hartebeest, oribi, warthog and Uganda kob.

Trails through Kaniyo Pabidi forest provide the opportunity to track chimpanzee and other primates beneath Uganda’s largest remaining mahogany trees.

Day 1:
Leave Kampala after breakfast and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park via Budongo forest and Lake Albert. Lunch at the Masindi Hotel along the way. Dinner and Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2:
After breakfast transfer to Paraa for the 3 hour launch trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls to view a variety of wildlife and birds, returning to Paraa around midday. Lunch at the lodge and afternoon game drive.

Day 3: After breakfast drive up to the top of the Falls. Short walk around the top of the falls where you can walk down to the river’s edge and see the water narrow as they are forced through a rocky cleft and plunge down 35m in a majestic cascade. Leave the park returning to Kampala via the Masindi arriving in the late afternoon.
